In 2010, the Japanese government commissioned Sailor to manufacturer a special gift set to honor veterans of WWII. Living veterans could request the set. It was presented by the Prime Minister of Japan at no charge to the recipient. The pen is a Sailor Pro-Gear painted with a maki-e design. The ink bottle cap is painted with the go-san-no-kiritouka-mon, the Japanese national emblem. Gold powder and shell inlay depict cherry blossoms flowing in a river. Wooden box inscribed with "Gift from Prime Minister." This pen is pre-owned and in very good condition. The ink well does not appear to be completely full but has most of the ink left. The top of the wooden box does show some water staining. See photos.
